Percy is next seen being groomed by Wiggins when the ship arrives in the New World. Percy is seen barking in agreement with his master. During a storm, Percy is carried on deck by Ratcliffe, who gives an inspirational speech to the settlers. Percy is carried onto the ship by Wiggins. Percy first appears alongside Ratcliffe, when Ratcliffe is boarding the ship to the New World. Later on, he leaves Ratcliffe and becomes friends with Pocahontas, Meeko, and Flit with whom he had a formerly antagonistic relationship. Percy is shown to have a number of luxuries, including his own tub and a carousel with dog biscuits. However, most of his care appears to come from Wiggins, Ratcliffe's servant. Percy is initially the spoiled dog of Ratcliffe. 2.2 Pocahontas II: Journey to the New World.Like the average viewer, Meeko has been keeping up with all the extended metaphors that have been happening throughout, and shows up with John Smith’s compass at just the right moment to help Pocahontas find her path and such. The kiss between Pocahontas and John Smith. But hey, we can relate.Īnd when stuff gets romantic, it’s like looking into a mirror because Meeko is just as awkward and amazed as we are. Meeko is also kind of a clutz, which is weird for such a spry woodland creature. Meeko isn’t that great at sharing, but we don’t know many raccoons (or humans) who are. His frenemy status with Percy is fairly food-based as well. That’s cool though, some relationships have been built on less. Meeko’s love of John Smith is totally food-based. Then there’s Meeko on food, which is pretty much the same as us on food. Check him out in the front of the canoe, living it up: That’s right, Pocahontas, just around the riverbend there could be a waterfall–oh wait there is, that’s why Meeko went into scared hat mode.īut once he’s returned to the realm of safety, Meeko is a total ham. For example, while navigating a treacherous river, Pocahontas is all smiles and optimism, while Meeko is appropriately nervous. Meeko also shows how someone SHOULD feel in certain circumstances, as compared to Pocahontas who has no fear gene or something like that.

Plus he makes fun of Kocoum, which restores balance to the world. Then, a little bit later when we hear that Pocahontas might have to marry Kocoum, Meeko makes a face that perfectly captures how our hearts feel.

Tiny bird is full of water? We want to squish him. Desperate times.īy the way, this is the best single frame in the entire movie, 9 out of 10 experts agree. Which naturally leads Meeko to try and repurpose his buddy, Flit, as a mid-air escape hummingbird, because #science and whatnot.
Then, when Pocahontas does her signature graceful swan cliff-leap of beauty, Meeko of course says to himself “ME TOO!” It is at this point that the viewer knows that Meeko is them, they are Meeko, and we are all connected to each other in a circle, in a hoop that never ends. Upon carefully rewatching Pocahontas, it has become clear to the movie experts here at Oh My Disney that Meeko is us in every way.
